Although Islamic laws on inheritance based on Quran grants
equal rights to both male and female heir of the deceased, there is no
unanimity among the Islamic scholars of Indonesia in granting equal property
rights for the women. There are difference of opinion among the scholars due to differences in interpreting the inheritance laws mentioned in the Islamic verses. While the Imam of the Sunni Muslim bans the daughter’s ability to block
the opportunities of inheritance in case of dispute, Shia Muslim laws are
conceding equal rights to the girl child also. Proper interpretation and
understanding of the original version stated in the holy book would avoid
disputes.

Political Polarization and Democratic Process in Taiwan: Implications for Cross-strait Relations
The outcomes of the Chinese civil war coupled with other
coincident occurrences were among the key factors and forces that led the
Nationalist party retreat to Taiwan branching out from the communist government in the mainland China. In the post-Martial law Taiwan, political divisions,
which started flourishing in 1986, paved the way for internal political
struggles outside the KMT for the first time in Taiwan political history.
Polarization has steadily become cogent, and one of the ambitious tasks to the
yet Taiwan’s growing democracy. Taiwanese domestic politics is determined by multiple vicissitudes including cross-Strait relations. Alternatively,
different groups adhere to political viewpoints favoring either unification,
independent and/or status quo. As per the theory, these motions have to deal
with foreign policy of the island directly, simply because trades and
investments alongside diplomatic ties can be determined not only by the group
or individual decision making, but also by the domestic population as well.

Our Side of the Mirror: The (Re)-Construction of 1970s’ Masculinity in David Peace’s Red Riding
David Peace and the late Gordon Burn are two British
novelists who have used a mixture of fact and fiction in their works to explore
the nature of fame, celebrity and the media representations of individuals
caught up in events, including investigations into notorious murders. Both Peace and Burn have analysed the case of Peter Sutcliffe, who was found guilty
in 1981 of the brutal murders of thirteen women in the North of England.
Peace’s novels filmed as the Red Riding Trilogy are an excoriating portrayal of
the failings of misogynist and corrupt police officers, which allowed Sutcliffe
to escape arrest.
Burn’s somebody’s Husband Somebody’ Son is a detailed factual
portrait of the community where Sutcliffe spent his life. Peace’s technique combines reportage, stream of consciousness and changing points of views
including the police and the victims to produce an episodic non linear narrative.
The result has been termed Yorkshire noir. The overall effect is to render the
paranoia and fear these crimes created against a backdrop of the late 1970s and
early 1980s. Peace has termed his novels as “fictions of the facts”. This paper
will examine the way that Peace uses his account of Sutcliffe’s crimes and the
huge police manhunt to catch the killer to explore the society that produced
the perpetrator, victims and the police.

Political Elections as an Element of Democracy
The article examines electoral systems in relation to
democratic theory; and it links the study of electoral systems to that of
voting systems. It compares elections in various other kinds of systems, and it looks at the differences between Azerbaijan experience and that of other countries. The article tries to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
The
literature regarding the formation of party systems in different transition
societies, reflects that establishment of institutionalized party system where
competing parties exist is an extended process and needs a long time. Also, this study accounts for different electoral system in terms of political modernization and democratic transformation. All these problems have been
analyzed from both a comparative and a theoretical stand point. Today, to
attain a healthy and stable political structure is one of the main problems of
political science. As a result, political parties and political elections are
indispensable elements of democracy.

Inter sectionality of Marginalization and Inequality: A Case Study of Muslims in India
Marginalization is a process that leads to side lining of a
certain community/individual to the periphery of the social space that
eventually constrain their life choices at political space, social negotiation,
and economic bargaining. It is a complex contested umbrella term is inextricably linked with the concept of inequality within the marginalized communities.
In fact, inequality and marginalization are usually at interface
in that they both with interacts and reinforces each other. Religious minority
groups are amongst those who encounter severe exclusion, discrimination and oppression.
In case of Indian Muslims as a religious marginalized community, these two
concepts overlap. However, concern with ‘marginalization’ is relatively recent
and it is imperative to check the development trajectory on the marginalized
groups. As considerable evidence exists, a process of ‘marginalization’ of
minority communities exists in almost all societies and nothing warrants that
the same is not true of Muslims in India to a greater or a lesser degree.
